Marking of original equipment tyres:

Tyres marked "OE" (Original Equipment) have been designed and manufactured to specific specifications by vehicle manufacturers.

In order to achieve the special driving characteristics of a vehicle, each car brand specifies precise requirements for optimum tyres. The tire manufacturers then develop the tires according to the respective specifications and produce the tires in the so-called OEM quality.

You have the choice when you need new tyres for your vehicle: original equipment tyres or other tyres of the same size, load capacity and speed index. Conditions and instructions can be found in the "Wheels / Tyres" section of your vehicle's manual.

The following marked tyres have been developed for certain car models and are mainly fitted as original equipment to the new vehicles at the manufacturer's works. These tyres can also be used on other vehicles.

Markings of the tyres with emergency running properties / Runflat:

The so-called "self-supporting tyres" make it possible to continue driving at a reduced speed (max. 80 km/h, distance of at least 80 kilometres) in the event of a tyre failure, without this significantly impairing driving stability.

M+S / M&S = Mud and Snow, Matsch und Schnee für Winter-, Allwetter- und Offroad Reifen.
All Weather = Ganzjahresreifen
TL = Tubeless, Schlauchloser Reifen, dieser Reifen darf nicht mit einem Schlauch montiert werden
TT = Tube type, dieser Reifen muss mit einem Schlauch montiert werden
GRNX = Michelin Green X, Kraftstoff sparender ökologischer Reifen
SI = Seal inside ContiSeal = selbstabdichtender Seal-Reifen von Continental

Depending on the manufacturer, the designations for tyres with rim protection strips are as follows:

FL (Felgen Leiste), FP (Flange Protector), FR (Felgenrippe), RPB (Rim Protection Bar), FSL (Felgenschutzleiste), ML (Mit Leiste), MFS (mit Felgenschutz).
